Giant Schnauzers are a high-energy working breed that require significant daily exercise and mental stimulation to stay balanced and well-behaved. Most adults benefit from at least 90–120 minutes of structured activity per day, including walks, training sessions, running, hiking, or dog sports such as obedience, rally, protection work, or scent activities. Because they are highly intelligent and driven, mental engagement and purposeful work are just as important as physical exercise to prevent boredom and unwanted behaviors.

Giant Schnauzers have a dense, wiry double coat that requires regular grooming and maintenance to keep it healthy and functional. Weekly brushing helps prevent matting and removes loose hair, while professional grooming or hand-stripping is typically needed every 4–8 weeks to maintain proper coat texture and appearance. Routine care also includes beard cleaning, ear checks, nail trims, and dental care.
